ABC’s Amplified series is dedicated to shining a spotlight on new musical talents that its viewers almost certainly won’t have heard of before. But it's still a surprise to see Nathan Williams of Wavves on there, as the show generally focuses on slightly bigger acts (think: Florence and the Machine, Karen Elson, etc.).
Most people will probably zip through this to get to the part where Williams talks about his infamous meltdown in Barcelona, although he’s clearly tiring of talking about it by now. “I shouldn’t have been headlining,” he says. “The only time I think about it is when I have to do interviews.” The rest of the clip touches on other tumultuous events in the bands history, with and discussion of the actual music reduced to a footnote.
i remember Pfork was hosting these abc things initially. wonder why that relationship stopped.
