Watch Yasiin Bey & Mannie Fresh Record “OMFGOD”

Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) and Mannie Fresh may have sat at opposite ends of the hip-hop spectrum for most of their careers — Bey representing the socially conscious-slash-“backpacker” scene, Fresh spearheading the Cash Money-era South — but the pair are working on a collaboration, as this footage reveals.

In part one below, we get to see the two hit the studio together where Bey spits some predictably hot lines (“Youngin’ you could hug the block but it don’t hug back/ If it do it’ll squeeze ’til your spine goes snap”) over some uncharacteristically Southern-esque beats.

Part two consists of a throwback interview from 2007 in which Bey (or Mos Def, as he was known back then) expresses his desire to work with Mannie. You gotta love when things come full circle like that. Check out the two clips below, and stay tuned for “OMFGOD” coming soon.
