Twin Shadow's George Lewis Jr. strips his sound way down for this Peter Gabriel cover. With only vocals and piano, he emotively moves through "Here Comes the Flood" off Gabriel's first self-titled album. Lewis does a remarkable job capturing the feel of the original, and his singing is strong and full.
Even though its format is similar to Gabriel's 1977 tune, Lewis undoubtedly makes "Flood" his own. The performance is impressive in that, towards the end, his eyes are shut and he's getting into the song like nobody's watching. Pretty cool, and an interesting cover choice to boot.
