Today there are trailers for not one but two documentaries about The Rolling Stones to celebrate the band’s 50th anniversary. First, there’s Peter Whitehead’s The Rolling Stones – Charlie Is My Darling – Ireland 1965. Produced long ago but never before released, that documentary follows the legendary band just before and as they make it big.
Next there’s the Brett Morgen-directed Crossfire Hurricane. This new documentary takes a look at the Stones’ career and rise to fame. Charlie Is My Darling premieres at the New York Film Festival this weekend and hits DVD and Blu-ray November 6. Crossfire Hurricane will play in UK theaters this October, then U.S. theaters, HBO and BBC Two this November. [iW & CoS]
