Ridley Scott may have his detractors, but one thing about him is undeniable: he's got an amazing visual style. Films like Alien, Blade Runner and Legend have stunning special effects, and even standard fare like Black Hawk Down and Gladiator are gorgeous to look at.
So no matter how you feel about it, you can't say that Prometheus isn't a pretty film. In fact, that's one of the only things that critics and audiences agreed on: the movie looks spectacular.
Part of that has to do with the excellent production design that went into it. So many of the ships, creatures and landscapes are unique without being too outlandish. What's more, while there's plenty of CGI in the picture, there are enough practical models and physical backdrops to keep viewers from having their suspension of disbelief ruined.
