Let it never be said that Metallica isn’t willing to have fun with their image. The metal legends have shared a clip from their appearance on James Corden’s upcoming Apple Music web series “Carpool Karaoke,” a more fleshed-out version of his recurring segment from “The Late Late Show.”
In the clip, James Hetfield is driving with comedian Billy Eichner sitting shotgun. Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich, and Robert Trujillo are crammed into the back. It appears that the five of them will at least be singing “Enter Sandman” and, on Eichner’s request, “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. At one point they all leave the car to do some grocery shopping and later belt out “Diamonds” by Rihanna. When Eichner collapses on Hetfield afterwards, Hetfield comforts him by saying, “It kinda gets ya, huh buddy.”

The episode premiers next Tuesday, August 15.
Last month, the band pulled a five-year-old girl out of the crowd in Detroit to sort of play drums on “Seek and Destroy.” Lars, however, loathe to hear anything other than percussive perfection, yanked little Kendalynn away from his kit after a few seconds.
All this merriment — poking fun at themselves on TV, giving a young fan the brief thrill of a lifetime — was cut short this week, though, at a show in Glendale, AZ, when a family was urinated on by a fan.
In a surreal twist, that fan was the father of the family. Court documents reveal that Daniel Francis Daddio, 44, peed on his own family. Daddio was “behind them in the row of seats just above theirs with his penis out of his pants and in his hands… Daddio was urinating on all three of his family members.”
The new “Carpool Karaoke” features appearances from LeBron James, John Legend, and Ariana Grande, among several other stars. Tuesday’s premier episode featured Will Smith.
