In a bitter bout of irony, Interpol's Paul Banks--known for his dour, apocalyptic songs--took to The Late Show With David Letterman last night in the midst of a dour, apocalyptic storm. In fact, Hurricane Sandy blew away the live audience for the episode, meaning it was just Banks, his band, the chuckles of Letterman and Paul Shaffer, and a smattering of applause from the crew. Banks was there to perform "Young Again" off his new solo album Banks, a perfectly moody cut to go with the cavernous studio. Letterman seemed to be enjoying the weirdness of it all, quipping that the album's cover art looked like Sandy descending on New York. Ladies and gentlemen, the lead singer of Dangling Crane below.
