Taken from their forthcoming album Tales of Us, Goldfrapp premiered a new video today for a track called “Drew”. Directed by Lisa Gunning, the black and white video sees buff, naked pretty folk frolicking around a desolate English stately home . It is said that the video will be part of a larger film project attached with the new album, out on September 9th.
Alison Goldfrapp said in a recent interview with the NME that all of the tracks Tales of Us will all be titled after male or female first names, and will feature a series of “evocative character sketches”. Aurally “Drew” is a far cry from the Xanadu inspired electro stomp of 2010’s Head First (an album the duo have to some extent disowned). “Drew” is much more on the lush, bucolic meanderings of 2008’s Seventh Tree or 2000’s Felt Mountain, with early reports suggesting the album will have more of a classical vibe. The duo will be premiering new tracks from Tales of Us at the Manchester International Festival this Wednesday.
