Watch Mountain Goats Cover Leonard Cohen's "The Smoky Life"
Mountain Goats' John Darnielle is the most recent artist tapped to promote Leonard Cohen's Old Ideas by playing a cover of an old Leonard Cohen song, following in the footsteps of Bradford Cox & Cults before him. Darnielle does a piano cover of "The Smoky Life," which he prefaces with the details of how he bought the album, 1979's Recent Songs, at MuchMusic. The clip is light on the fiery bluster that usually accompanies Mountain Goats performances, but Darnielle lets it rip near the end. Watch the video at Consequence of Sound.
