Earlier this year, a range of artists were invited to the studios of Austin City Limits to pay tribute to Johnny Cash on what would have been the Man In Black's 80th birthday. On August 7, Legacy will release the concert on CD and DVD as We Walk The Line: A Celebration of the Music of Johnny Cash. PBS will also broadcast the performance on August 10, which features Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Iron & Wine, among others.
During the show, Iron & Wine tackled "Long Black Veil," a song written by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin and originally recorded in 1959 by Lefty Frizzell. It's been covered by everyone from Joni Mitchell to the Band, but Cash probably has the most famous version, which he performed solo at Folsom Prison in 1968. Below, watch Iron & Wine's subdued, reverent take on the classic country ballad. [P4K]
