Watch: Erykah Badu Talks Art, Her Creative Process

As part of her series with MADE, Erykah Badu performed several tracks with a string section and, as we're seeing now, sat down for an interview to discuss art. In particular, she speaks on her own personal artistic output, which goes beyond the music we've all come to adore from the soulful songstress. She notes that's also started creating her own jewelry, which she's flaunting on her wrist throughout the video.

Badu explains that art, for her, is religion. That mindset began when she was a young girl and started singing, though she notes that her music stayed on the back-burner up through her college years. Before she decided to create her own music, she was more focused on theater as it was a way for her to properly express herself. The most interesting part of the interview comes about halfway through, when she explains her writing process. I won't spoil it for you, though. Just watch the interview below.
