Watch: DJ Premier Speaks On Will Sessions' 'ELmatic' Instrumentals
Last week, we heard the first leak from Will Sessions' forthcoming The ELmatic Instrumentals, which sounds like exactly what it is. They have stripped Elzhi's vocals from the Illmatic tribute project to showcase the great live reinterpretations of the classic beats heard on Nas' debut. As hip-hop heads known full well, three of the tracks on Illmatic -- "Memory Lane," "Represent," and "N.Y. State of Mind" -- were produced by DJ Premier. And to shed light on how he crafted those beats and give props to Will Sessions' approach, Fat Beats sat down with Premo for a quick interview. Aside from learning more about how "Memory Lane" came together, we also get to see the producer at his most fanboy-ish as he bounces along to the music. Just awesome.
