It's not everyday that you get to watch David Byrne team up with members of Arcade Fire and the Strokes. And it's even less likely you get to watch that motley crew perform at a basketball halftime show. Yet that's what happened over the weekend in Win Butler's annual Pop Vs. Jock, a charity basketball game put on in Montreal.
He and the Strokes' bassist Nikolai Fraiture flexed their hoops skills and then joined Byrne for perhaps the weirdest halftime performance in history. They danced to "96 Tears" and omnipresent arena standard "That's The Way (I Like It)" (as Byrne sang) with fellow Arcade Fire member Régine Chassagne acting as the mascot.
