Watch Bjork Dedicate Song To Pussy Riot

This Friday, jailed Russian punks Pussy Riot will be handed a ruling in their case, and they could face up to three years' time (if Putin's assertion goes otherwise, that is). Previously, Madonna decided to use stage time to stand by the members of the band, and now Bjork has done the same.

Speaking at her show in Helsinki, Finland, Bjork dedicated her 2008 song "Declare Independence" to Pussy Riot. She preceded the performance by stating that she's dedicated the song to political causes in the past, including to the Faroe Islands (which have contemplated independence from Denmark) and Kosovo.

Bjork also wrote on her website about the Pussy Riot case:

as a musician and a mother i would like to express i fiercely dont agree with them being put to jail because of their peaceful protest performance . they are currently standing trial and facing seven years in prison for this .
in my opinion the russian authorities should let them go home to their families and children
