Alt-J recently revealed “Left Hand Free,” a bluesy track off of their forthcoming sophomore record This Is All Yours, and earlier this week the band laid it down on Late Show with David Letterman. Watch that performance below:
Letterman seems impressed.
The new album will be the first big release for the band following 2012’s critically-lauded, Mercury Prize-winning album An Awesome Wave. While “Left Hand Free” is slightly more rock focused than the music found on their debut, the band’s other recent singles, “Hunger of the Pine” and “Every Other Freckle,” continue the legacy of their gentle, atmospheric electropop sound with a touch of a more commercial bent. After such a critical and commercial success, it’s nice to see the surprisingly versatile band branch out a little.
