Fans of the Roots have been calling them the “Legendary” for years, or since whenever it was that Black Thought or Questlove first uttered that adjective to describe the band. But now it’s more than just another name for the Philly crew, it’s the title of a new mini-documentary. The 10-minute film, The Legendary: A Film About The Roots, goes beyond just footage of the Roots killing it in concert. The filmmakers, Jeff Baraka and Cam Be, wanted to capture the human-side of these guys who seem to never, ever sleep. There is also a sit-down interview with Questlove, who provides insight into how the Roots have become what they are today — the hardest working act in hip-hop.
