Since 2010's It's Blitz!, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have been fairly quiet. Its frontwoman, however, has not. Aside from getting silently married, we reported in July 2011 that Karen O was putting together a "psycho opera" in conjunction with the Creators Project. Called Stop the Virgens, the piece--a blend of music and theater--brought to light many recordings the singer made back in 2005. It debuted in Brooklyn at St. Ann's Warehouse as part of the Creators Project's October festival.
Through interviews with Karen, Yeah Yeah Yeahs bandmate Nick Zinner, director Adam Rapp, co-creator and production designer K.K. Barrett and others, you can now have an in-depth look at how Virgens came to be. The two part mini-documentary also features interviews with the 'virgens' themselves. And of the work, Karen shares this rather intriguing feeling, "It was the first time I made something that was so euphoric and so free of suffering or frustration or pain." You can watch the videos at the Creators Project website.
