As many of us are speculating when 50 Cent will drop his next album or at least release a mixtape, the rapper decided to put that all on hold to look into his past. Last night marked the premiere of his documentary, The Origin of Me, on the VH1 Rock Docs channel. And it featured him taking a trip down to Edgefield, S.C. to learn more about his roots in the U.S. Among other things, he found out that some of his ancestors in that region fought against members of the Red Shirts, which was a group of militant white civilians that acted openly and violently to repress civil rights in the 1800s. It's a revealing look at both the rapper's family history and some of the uglier moments in our country's past.
