Warner Bros Decides To Film New Ending To 'Gangster Squad' In Wake Of Aurora Shooting

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros, the studio behind The Dark Knight Rises, has decided to re-film the ending to its upcoming period gangster flick, Gangster Squad. The movie, which stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Sean Penn and Josh Brolin, originally ended with an epic shoot-out at Grauman's Chinese Theater. The scene involved criminals coming from behind a cinema screen to spray bullets into the audience, and in the wake of the Aurora, CO shooting that took 12 lives, this has become problematic.

Because the studio has agreed to reshoot the ending, the film's release date has been pushed back from September 7 to January 11, 2013. Based on a true story, Gangster Squad, which is directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), focuses on a police unit responsible for taking down the Los Angeles mob in 1940s-50s.
