That's right, you, Average Joe, have the opportunity to star as Spider-Man in the new musical adaptation of his story, which features music from U2 . It turns out producers are having a hell of time trying to get someone appropriate to play Spider-Man in the musical (what, Tobey Maguire has a shitload of other roles coming in?), so they're opening the auditions up to basically anyone that can sing. They're also looking for a Mary Jane, although Evan Rachel Wood has been rumored for that since the show was announced, and a female villain.
Auditions will be held starting this Thursday (April 9) in Orlando, and will happen at five other locales. Here's the audition schedule . Given that the show is slated for a February 18, 2010, premiere, the producers better hurry. It's probably a long and arduous process to find a singer that can nail the nuance of playing a man that is part spider. [via Pitchfork ]
