It's been in the works for a couple of years now, but the fourth album of original material from The Walkmen (not counting the 2006 covers record Pussy Cats) is now done and ready to see the light of day. It goes by the name of You & Me, and is slated for an August 19 release via the band's new label home, Gigantic Music. The Walkmen fleshed out the new songs in New York City and Philadelphia. Once the band was happy with the batch it had to work with, The Walkmen headed down to Oxford, Mississippi to record the album with John Agnello (the Hold Steady, Dinosaur Jr.). You and Me was wrapped up at Gigantic Studios in New York. The end result is fourteen new tunes, including one interestingly titled "Flamingos (For Colbert)." Wonder if that's referencing a certain comedic political pundit. Full tracklist below.
The Walkmen don't so much have an extensive tour planned right now as the band has a handful of East Coast and West Coast dates. Some will be in clubs, and some will be at festivals, including Bumbershoot. Dates below.
