Wale, underground rap sensation who prefers Nike Boots, is reportedly at work on his debut LP, which seems like it's been two years in the making. But Wale has a good reason for the delay--he's trying to get really good beats and make a ground-breaking album. Among the producers on the album is Cool & Dre, Ryan Leslie, Green Lantern, Sean C and LV, Mark Ronson, Glitch Mob, and Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio.
You heard me correctly, Dave Sitek, producer extraordinaire and guitarist for TV on the Radio, has crafted two beats that will appear on Wale's as of yet untitled debut (which Wale hopes to have out this spring).
Here's what Wale had to say about the collabo:
"It happened so fast. Once I got into the studio, I picked a beat out immediately, then another one." He continued, " It really pushes the envelope farther, as far as musicianship goes. The creativity level has got to be stepped up in 2009 for other artists."
Both Wale and Sitek are on Interscope, so the collabo was probably pretty easy, and it allows for Sitek to branch out his production credits. But that's not all--you can see the two in the studio together below (by fast-forwarding to the 4:25 mark), which features Wale's team blinging out Sitek's wrist. [Pitchfork]
