As the numbers roll in for his debut's first-week sales, it's not looking so good for Washington, D.C., rapper Wale. Attention Deficit apparently sold 28,000 copies since dropping last Tuesday. In a sense, it's not terribly surprising. His radio single, "Chillin'" with Lady Gaga, didn't receive much airplay, and its video flopped on MTV and BET. Yes, he was all over the blogosphere, touring with Jay-Z, and appearing on different media. But what does that matter when the music isn't really being heard.
After interviewing Wale's manager, Daniel Weisman, XXL reported today that Attention Deficit was actually "under-shipped." He claimed that fans on Twitter were replying to Wale that they were having trouble finding the album in stores Weisman also said a majority (64 percent) of his client's sales are coming from digital outlets, which he said "makes sense for Wale."
Dude's got a point: I can't find a store that actually has this in Madison.
Really? Hmph, ya still think he'd move more than that considering Slaughterhouse did the same without a major label backing them.
No kidding. I was surprised that I literally can't buy it.
Damn.
Either way, I still think it should have done a little better.
I thought it'd do around 100K. I was way off obviously.
