Wal-Mart Sells Digital Music Free of Copy Curbs
In a move that smacks of a larger, more sinister plan, Wal-Mart has begun selling digital downloads free of the copy protection written into songs purchased from Apple's I-Tunes program. Though I-Tunes does offer unencumbered songs through its Plus program at a cost of $1.29 per song, Wal-Mart offers the same music by artists such as the Rolling Stones, Maroon 5, and Amy Winehouse for ninety-four cents a song.
