Vivian Girls open last McCarren show, perform two new songs

Brooklyn buzz band Vivian Girls, fresh off a short tour and with a new drummer, will be one of the opening acts for what look likes an epic final show at McCarren Park Pool (Sonic Youth headlines, but Wolf Eyes, Times New Viking, and the Vivs will make it positively quake with awesomeness). Even cooler, the heroic Angelinnian girls recently recorded a few live songs for the Sirius radio show of My Old Kentucky Blog, including two new ones, “I Have No Fun” and “Surfing Away.” They continue to perfect their trademark mixture of sickly sweet harmonies and surf-noise guitar. Here lie seeds of hope for a follow-up to their soon to be re-released first album (Oct. 7, In the Red). [Via Gorilla Vs. Bear]

"You wrong. They ain't going to Monster Island no moh. Mr. Masterson tol' me last night," Cyrus said.
A short wave of greenish-blue sun shone through the barn door and il pirato rubbed his beard, and carried his didgeridoo outside. Cyrus continued to sort the bales into piles of alfalfa and cornstalks.
