We're living in a golden age for the young and financially challenged. I'm not entirely up on my facts, here, but I'm pretty sure 20th century billionaires weren't in the habit of putting on massive free concerts, like Richard Branson will once again be doing this fall. Starting off as a two-day, un-free festival in 2006, the Virgin Mobile Fest became the Virgin Mobile Free Fest in 2009, when it was held at the venue that was then on the tip of everyone's tongue: the Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia, Md. The festival will be returning to that hallowed spot this year, with a line-up composed almost entirely of can't-miss acts: M.I.A., Pavement, LCD Soundystem, T.I., Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian, etc. etc. etc. It all goes down Sept. 25, and you can pick up your free tickets (such a delightful phrase, that) at Ticketfly.com starting Saturday, July 24 at 10 a.m. Full lineup below.
