Chris Brown may have found some unlikely career salvation in the form of a viral video that is clocking up millions of views on YouTube. Brown’s popularity seemed to be in terminal decline after his alleged altercation with Rihanna. But the unlikely figures of newlyweds Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz have suddenly brought Brown’s music back to the fore.
Peterson and Heinz’s unusual video features their wedding party throwing down to Brown’s “Forever” as they make their way down the aisle. The JK Wedding Entrance Dance video has amassed over 12 million views since appearing on July 19, and the happy couple have even appeared on the Today Show as a result.
A direct link to buy “Forever” is embedded in the video, causing the song to suddenly reappear in the iTunes Top 10 long after it was released. Brown’s reputation may not be entirely rescued, but clearly these are End Times for the music video—a cheap digital video camera and a wedding party have suddenly proved far more effective than any of the lavish high-budget clips produced in recent years.
