Video: Chris Murphy "Blues For Bukowski (w/ Mike Watt)"

Man, does ex-Minutemen bassist Mike Watt ever turn down a gig? First he joins The Stooges...then he plays on the all-star Book of Knots album...then he plays tracks on the new Kelly Clarkson album, and now we've got this video of Watt playing the thudstaff for L.A. violinist Chris Murphy, on a simply bluesy stomper in tribute to Bukowski. It's a simple enough video, with shots of Watt, Murphy and drummer Steve Hodges hanging out on some west coast beach interspersed with moody nighttime shots. The real treat is seeing Watt jam out an econo fuzz bass solo. "Blues for Bukowski" is taken from Murphy's recent disc Luminous.

I'm glad he didn't turn down the gig because it fucking rocks.
