VH1 “Honors” tour celebrates The Roots of hip-hop

VH1 is sending three hip-hop originals out on tour for the inaugural edition of the VH1 Hip Hop Honors tour, a spinoff of the network’s Hip Hop Honors award show. Past honorees Headlining act MC Lyte and Big Daddy Kane will open all dates of the tour, while The Roots are headlining – though they’ve never been honored by the show, they were the house band for a while.
The Hip Hop Honors tour is set to start in San Francisco on September 13th, and will culminate in a whole “Hip Hop Honors Weekend” in early October. The Roots drummer Ahmir “?uestlove” Thompson is the acting music director for the whole shebang. Tour dates after the jump.
