Stereogum has a teaser for this post in which the site lists a bunch of movies and asks you to guess what their musical connector is. I thought it would be that they all use "Gimme Shelter." Turns out they all have Van Morrison songs in them. Now those tunes have been rounded up and will be released as Van Morrison at the Movies: The Soundtrack Hits on February 13th on Manhattan/EMI. Call it an excercise in pointless repackaging of old material, sure, but any album that starts of with Them's original version of "Gloria" isn't a complete waste of time. Other gems include a previously-unreleased live version of "Moon Dance" from the American Werewolf in London soundtrack and a live cover of "Comfortably Numb" from this year's The Departed.
