For the first time in 35 years, Van Halen will release music on a label other than Warner Bros. At least, that's the word according to industry insiders familiar with the negotiations between the band and Interscope Records. Sleaze Roxx reports that the guys were originally slated to join the Columbia roster. But that deal fell through when Sony, which owns Columbia, couldn't come to terms with frontman David Lee Roth after he re-joined the band in 2006.
Or, as Sleaze Roxx puts it, "The main issue for Roth? He was apparently adamant about being on a west coast label." You know, California girls and such. Anyway, they're gearing up to announce a new Van Halen album at the Grammy Awards nominations party on Nov. 30, so we can expect to know more later in the month. [The Daily Swarm]
