Update: Michael Jackson Vienna Tribute Canceled, Moved to London

Earlier today we reported that the proposed tribute concert to Michael Jackson in Vienna had run into trouble. Now comes the unsurprising news that the show has been canceled. Instead, the event has been rescheduled, and will now take place in a suitable venue in London in June 2010.

Scheduling conflicts caused many big name stars to back out of the show, and promoter Georg Kindel said: "Maybe we underestimated these issues." No venue has yet been confirmed for the rescheduled concert, although the 02 Arena, where Jackson was due to play 50 shows, may be a possibility.

Kindel had previously tried to cover up the lack of star power at the event by saying: "The star is Michael Jackson - it's not about name dropping and who else will be there.” The promoter should be able to pull some big stars together for the London show, although it’s not yet known what will happen to anyone who held tickets for the Vienna event.
