Update: It turns out that the photo above wasn't taken during Jane's Addiction's current tour with Nine Inch Nails, but during Perry Farrell's 50th birthday party. The band aren't using teleprompters on their current tour, but used them during their set at Farrell's party.
Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails have been cutting a wide swath across America on their joint tour, getting semi-decent reviews and box office numbers along the way. But here's something that is decidedly non-rocking about Jane's set; they're using teleprompters to make sure they get the songs right. Granted, I'm sure a lot of bands use them (and so do politicians), but I'm pretty sure using teleprompters measures just slightly above appearing on Hannah Montana on the things you can do that are not-rock scale. This pic was taken at Perry's 50th Birthday party. About 20 guest performers appeared with him on stage. The prompter was for them, not for Perry. They do not use one for their regular shows.
FYI
Who cares about telepromters! They have earned that right to choose. As far as semi-decent reviews from critics who were probably concieved after Janes Addiction created these tracks, all I can say is show some respect and be honored that you can take part in this reunion in a time of much tired sound.

I'm not worried about it either way.
So? What's the issue? Let's see the writer of this piece get up there and remember all the lyrics and music to a full set of songs in front of an audience!

Andrew Winistorfer again dissapoints - get a real writer to cover these sorts of things, to do some field research first.
Brendan
Andrew Winistorfer didn't get his facts straight.

Only a true fan would know that this is not true. Read the comment left May 19th at 4:39pm PERRY's 50TH - do some research before trying to get your story.
jennaveere
do your homework, genius. like maybe a little "investigative reporting", for instance.
jp
yr an idiot. how about just 60 seconds spent on research before you decide to write a completely false story. ha ha.

This doesn't even rate as a "story." As someone who has witnessed JA back out on the stage, there were no teleprompters and there was no lack of ROCK GOD energy! Sorry, Andrew, but you missed the mark on this one.
MoxyJane
I still think you're hot, Andrew.
Thanks bangers.
