Unplugged Returning to MTV On Demand, Network Possibly Unsure About “Music Television” Concept

Unplugged, the fondly remembered MTV program that spawned a collection of indelible acoustic moments, is making its triumphant series return, but only to On Demand, with clips featured on MTV2 and mtvU. Music fans searching out the new installments will be treated to acoustic treatments by Adele, Silversun Pickups, and Katy Perry. While it’s good to see some original music programming hit the airwaves, it’s slightly disappointing that MTV has such a tepid commitment to it. The original run of Unplugged showcased some awesome performances, and with the right collection of artists, it could do so again. This is normally the point where the complaint is aired about MTV not featuring music, but that particular klaxon has already been sounded. I merely say to you MTV: “More Unplugged. Better artists. Good day.” [BeatCrave]
