Universal Studios is pushing hard for sequels to Ted and The Bourne Legacy.
At the Bank of America Merill Lynch Media, Communications and Entertainment conference, NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke told analysts that he plans to stabilize the studio by promoting “as many franchises as we can.” While Burke announced that there would be future films in the Bourne franchise, it seems that he’s mostly interested in getting a sequel to Ted in production “as soon as we can.”
Apart from these high-profile sequels, Burke also revealed that universal has “dusted off” the American Pie franchise and is looking forward to upcoming sequels to The Fast and the Furious and Despicable Me. Also, Universal will be going into production on more animated titles, with Burke stating, “The key is to go from making one film every 18 months to making two a year.” [Deadline]
