Universal opens Lost Tunes to unearth forgotten gems, make money

Universal UK has launched Lost Tunes, a deep catalog site powered by 7Digital that focuses on “exclusives, hidden gems, and rarities” from the label’s past. In addition to the more obscure selections, Lost Tunes contains “unmissable albums for you to add to your collection, and articles and reviews to help you discover music that we know you'll love."

The downloadable tracks are double the quality of iTunes and fully iPod compatible. A quick tour around the site reveals quick load times, a friendly interface and some genuinely tasty albums, including selections from the Flying Burrito Brothers, Terry Caller, David Ruffin, and Caravan. The only drawback is that all the pricing is set up for users in the United Kingdom, which is confusing for ugly Americans such as yours truly. Even if they continue to price exclusively in euros, however, Lost Tunes is a great destination to expand the parameters of your musical awareness. [Hypebot]
