It’s kind of disheartening to see that the most successful record company in the world needs assistance in raising money to reissue records. According to FACT, Universal Music Group’s vinyl company, UVinyl, has launched The Vinyl Project in hopes of reissuing rare vinyl.
Similar to Kickstarter, the Vinyl Project is a crowdfunding initiative where if enough pre- orders are funded then Universal will be given the OK to repress limited edition vinyl. According to the official UVinyl Site, buyers of the rare vinyl will also be given digital downloads and personalised art prints.
Some releases considered for reissue are some classic records including Sonic Youth’s Goo, Bjork’s Biophilia, Pulp’s His ‘N’ Hers, and Nirvana’s unforgettable MTV Unplugged In New York.
