Unheard Springsteen 'Darkness' Songs Coming This Winter

Consequence of Sound has just reported that Bruce Springsteen will make like the Rolling Stones did with their recent deluxe reissue of Exile on Main Street. Specifically, Springsteen is unearthing tapes from his 1978 classic Darkness on the Edge of Town and may issue some ten previously unreleased tracks from the album's recording sessions.

That's the good news. The news that might strike purists as less good is that, like the Stones, Springsteen has also decided to add some modern touches to the old tracks. According to his longtime guitarist "Miami" Steve Van Zandt, the Boss will "go back and [Bruce] might finish a lyric or harmony on one or two, but we’ll keep them intact pretty much.” 

There is apparently no release date, and fans are already clamoring for a DVD with live concert footage from the album's tour. Stay tuned.
