The music business is full of so many mind-bogglingly inexplicable occurrences that it's easy to become blase about them, but every once in a while there's a head-scratcher of such titanic proportions that it renews your sense of awe at the universe's unknowability. Jackpot!
You know that new, preconception-shattering U2 album-in-the-works No Line On The Horizon everyone's been jabbering about? Turns out it's been a red herring all along. The real news in Bonoville? How do the words "Spider-Man musical" strike you? The Edge has confirmed -- and you know he's not the type to kid around -- that he and Bono have "written a lot of the songs at this point" for a stage musical about the webbed wonder, adding "It's in a pretty good state, and I hope it'll open this year." Also working on the project are Kung Fu Panda writer Glenn Berger and Across The Universe writer/director Julie Taymor; Evan Rachel Wood is slated to play Spidey's gal pal Mary Jane. We suggest you don't try too hard to process this information, simply let it wash over you like a fine mist that leaves you damp but refreshed.
WTF???????????????
Ugh.
Im predicting this makes it to the top 3 worst things in 09 list.
...maybe ever?
I just threw up in mouth a little bit.
Now go home and listen to "Joshua Tree"......this really effed up U2 for me.......
Two things.
First, this musical is being produced by Marvel. When they're involved with their own properties, they make sure it doesn't get messed up. At least the play should be good.
And B, it wouldn't be the first time U2 did music for a superhero. They did "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" for "Batman Forever" and the Edge did the theme for the Batman cartoon.
Bat Fan
We're not talking about theme songs....this is a musical!!!! In the same vein as Phantom of the Opera.....only with a story that by Spidey 3 got all tired and emo. And Marvel is on my poop list anyway....they still can't get The Incredible Hulk right. And when they sold the rights to Wolverine.......talk about a company not out for the almighty dollar. lol I'm not a fanboy but you know Marvel can f#ck some stuff up.
lol @ bat fan.
From "Sunday Bloody Sunday" to disposable pop culture vomit. Its like they are growing up but in reverse, (giving up).
I was a Marvel fanboy growing up, but I am no longer. I might even side with DC at this point.
Tell 'em Daba!!!!!!!!!
DC for life!!!!!
It never stops amazing me how completely ignorant, judgmental, and incredibly negative people like you all are toward something you have likely not even heard or seen because apparently you are all perfect in what you do and say everyday.
I am sure you are all out there living your lives to the fullest? Not afraid to venture out of the comfort of your cyberspace life and make a mark in the world? Some marks may be more memorable then others, some more positive then others, but at least there are still people in this world who get up off their butts and put themselves out there for millions of people to judge them by and quite often make a huge positive movements forward in our world (often involving trying to eliminate the seemingly hatred you have for people who get out and DO, not just talk........... What is it you have done lately to challenge yourself, make a difference in the world, or even done something positive, if even for a day of no bashing on those you must be jealous of. Get a life!
wow, really?
I'm just here to throw my name on the list of those who support DC over marvel.
I'm worried about them. they may have lost confidence in their way of making music meaningful.
