Rock dinosaurs U2 shocked Berlin residents by erecting a wall to block the view of their free concert celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Though MTV characterizes the twelve-foot metal fence, which is draped with an opaque white tarp, as a temporary security measure, the good folks in East Berlin are understandably peeved. The barrier effectively blocks the view of anybody who failed to get tickets to the show, and while it might have been deemed necessary for the security of the band, there has to be something else to be done. On the other hand, this is just one more step in U2's evolution into Spinal Tap. They've already been tapped inside a lemon; Bono should just start the show with "Hell Hole" and be done with it. Why would "the good folks of East Berlin" be peeved? The concert was *in* the former East Berlin side of the Gate and wall. Also not sure where you got the info that U2 themselves erected this barrier; they just flew into Berlin to play the gig, which was organised by MTV Europe. I love internet "journalism".

Mom?
@jeremy, dude, don't take the U2 wall barrier building literally. Though, I love the mental picture of Bono in his jacket and pink colored sunglasses would start erecting metal fences and later on be joined by the Edge.
The clear implication is that U2 insisted on this barrier. Which they didn't. That's all. If "Rock dinosaurs U2" was replaced with MTV, then I'd be a bit happier. Mind you I reckon Larry would be a better fence erector than Bono, who just isn't the biggest of blokes ;)
