U2 is in the studio working on its next album with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, but what’s more exciting — considering the band’s uneven offerings the past few years — is the reissue treatment coming for U2’s first three albums. Universal will release remastered and expanded editions of Boy, October, and War on July 22. Each will include the original album on 180-gram vinyl and a two-CD package featuring b-sides, rare tracks, and live material. As for the new album, the band hopes it’ll be out this year. The recently signed Live Nation band plans to follow it up with a tour in 2009.
