U2-bolstered Spider-Man Musical Gets Title and Release Date

The rumored Spider-Man musical that features music from U2 was finally confirmed earlier this year, and now the show has gotten a title, Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark, and a release date, Fabruary 18, 2010 at New York's Hilton Theatre.

A Marvel press release says that the play will "hurtle the audience through an origin story both recognizable and unexpected—yielding new characters as well as familiar faces—until a final surprising confrontation casts a startling new light on this hero's journey."

What that surprising confrontation is, no one's saying. Maybe the revelation that that whole Spider-Man 3 dance scene was an elaborate joke to make the inevitable Spider-Man 4 seem leagues better than that disaster. [A.V. Club]
