The idea of a Bono and Jay-Z collaboration doesn’t exactly sound like an appetizing proposition—but their joint effort is for victims of the Haiti earthquake, so it’s all in a good cause. The Edge talked about the song during an interview he conducted on the Irish radio station RTE 2FM.
"Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz,” he said, referring to Swizz Beats. “He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So Bono came up with the phrase on the phone and last night we were here, we wrote a song, finished, recorded, and sent it back to them. So, that might be the next thing you hear from us."
George Clooney’s telethon, named Hope for Haiti, will air on various networks this Friday (Jan. 22) and Bono will also take part in that. Details about the band’s collaboration with Jay-Z are scant—no release date or title have been revealed yet—but the nature of the collaboration and the outpouring of grief toward Haiti are sure to make it a huge seller.
