Who says bloated rock stardom is dead? Green Day will be releasing not one, not two, but three new albums over the course of the next six months. And to go along with the glut of new music, there are two documentaries about the band coming our way.
One of the films will chronicle the making of the three new albums, while the other tackles the band's pre-Dookie days. Filmmakers Tim Lynch (who's worked with Green Day previously) and Tim Wheeler (the White Stripes) have been shooting rehearsals, recording sessions, and shows for the past year and a half with the hope of completing the first documentary in time for the Sundance Film Festival.
"We wanted to get into lifestyles of rock & roll and playing rock & roll and letting the story kind of tell itself rather than create revisionist [history]," says frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. [Rolling Stone]
