Music recommendation goes graphical

via Digital Music Weblog
TuneGlue takes data from Amazon and Last.fm, then renders it in some radial family tree that you can rearrange, with your favorite artists bouncing around on the screen and jiggling into place. As with all these services, the linking is dependent on a certain community, so your results may vary. I thought it would be simple to play six degrees of separation to get from Ghostface to Gnarls Barkley (Ghost-> MF Doom -> Danger Doom -> Danger Mouse -> Gnarls) but it linked Danger Mouse to Aesop Rock for some reason, when any good backpacker knows Blockhead does beats for Aesop.
Clearly it's fun if it gets good results, or allows you to unleash your inner music snob. TuneGlue is apparently the brainchild of EMI, who with their recent testing of DRM-less online music sales, may be the rare record label doing more good on the Interweb than evil.
