The long running feud between Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson has often bubbled to the surface since the two stopped working together in 1996. Reznor is enjoying a career renaissance thanks to his savvy interactions with fans via his Twitter feed and popular band website. But that hasn’t stopped him taking aim at Manson once again.
"Seeing him now, drugs and alcohol now rule his life and he's become a dopey clown,” he said in an interview on Spinner. Reznor also added that Manson is a “malicious guy” who will “step on anybody's face to succeed and cross any line of decency. He used to be the smartest guy in the room. And as a fan of his talents, I hope he gets his shit together.”
He also cast doubt on Manson’s public image, claiming that much of his act was faked during the early days of the band. “His drive for success and self-preservation was so high, he pretended to be fucked up a lot when he wasn't,” said Reznor. The Nine Inch Nails singer is currently on a ‘90s revival tour with Jane’s Addiction, which follows some less successful live shows by the band last year.
Marilyn's new album may not be the most hard rocking album, but its a self described state of being he's feeling. i think he's depressed. after dita, then evan. he's going thru a rough time right now, and i will always support him. his next album is gonna blow your mind. he just needs to get his life strait. he's not a "dopey clown"...he's Marilyn Mason the antichrist superstar!!! ;)

Yeah, Manson is the best! Trent just wants some attention and, as nobody know him, he's getting it by saying things like that about Manson. You couldn't make it, Trent!

Ya know what? They both are dopey clowns, neither one of them are anything like what they used to be. They had their peaks, imo, for Trent it was The Fragile, and for MM it was "Holy Wood" and after that they both just started making weak watered down albums for the legions of trendy 16yo Hot Topic shoppers who only buy their stuff to look cool, not because of anything like musical quality or lyrical content in the albums. Trent's music got lame from a lack of drugs, and Manson's got lame because of an overindulgence in them. Trent stopped making anger-fueled industrial hits with subtly political lyrics and went head on into cliche Bush-bashing. Manson stopped writing scathing anthems against religion and started writing about his breakups and other personal relationship crap like some whiny emo kid while simultaneously taking coded pop shots at MCR and other "doppelgangers" he thinks are copying off him.
The two people I looked up to and admired most are now just a withering husk of what they used to be, but it's alright and I've accepted it, after all nobody's heroes can ever stay super forever. I've accepted it and moved on to other things.
