This past summer, one of the blogosphere's first casualties--Austin, Texas' Voxtrot--announced that they'd be breaking up. In a typically rambling blog post on the band's website, frontman Ramesh Srivistava recalled a soul-searching conversation he'd had with a high-school-hero of his, Travis' Fran Healy. It ended with Healy saying "You can't keep writing the same song. You have to throw away the map. AND you have to keep creating, even if it goes nowhere for a while, you have to keep creaitng...and it'll be great."
Seems Healy is the kind of guy in the habit of taking his own advice. The Scotsman put out Ode to J. Smith with his band just two years ago, and now it's been announced that he'll be going solo with Wreckorder. His brief departure from the band was as amicable as a Travis song: he got express permission from them to record the thing. Wreckorder is out October 5. [Spinner]
