The stunning trailer for "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," a new film featuring Tom Waits in the role of the Devil, is sure to haunt you more than Scarlett Johansson's covers album. The Terry Gilliam flick, which hits theaters Oct. 16, follows the tale of Dr. Parnassus (played by Christopher Plummer), who makes a deal with the Devil to gain immortality. The soon-to-be-released film also boasts an impressive cast of Heath Ledger (in his final screen role), Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law.
"I don't know why [Gilliam] thought of me. I was raised in the church," Waits recently commented. "Gilliam is an impresario, captain, magician, a dictator (a nice one), a genius, and a man you'd want in the boat with you at the end of the world." This is the latest role for the gravel-voiced musician, who previously appeared in "Wristcutters: A Love Story," "Domino" and "Coffee and Cigarettes." [Pitchfork]
