Though it'll be hard to live down the early infamy of its poop journals and its homoerotic essays, the blog maintained by the band Deerhunter has quickly become notable for actual music. In addition to outtakes and stillborn demos from both Deerhunter and his solo project Atlas Sound, frontman and chief blogger Bradford Cox has seen fit to drag out more ghosts from his musical past.
The Wet Dreams are a (now defunct) band Cox drummed and sang in alongside Atlanta chums Alix Brown and Julie Elledge in 2005. Stylistically they shared more of a similarity with the town's other set of garage heroes, the Black Lips, than they do with Deerhunter's conceptual psych pop. Some feedback flare ups and blurred edges in the mix excluded, the pleasures here are simple. The appeal of the bratty inter gender vocals, fuzzy lo-fi production, and reckless energy that define "Circuit Breaker" seem evident without an explanatory dissertation.
