Track Review: The Teenagers "Selflove"

Since most of The Teenagers songs to date could be aptly described as wank fantasies, it's appropriate that they finally got around to the matter at in hand. This gleefully pro-whacking it anthem from their self-titled debut features the band's trademark guaze wrapped pop riffs as well asridiculousÂÂsegways like, "I'm watching Christina Aguilera's videos/ sometimes when I wake up, it's a circus in my underwear."As non-subtle as all this may be, there are actually moments of delicacy buriedÂÂunderneath the goof. As the sleazy French voiced member spouts off the names of the girls in his fantasy file, he's backed by gentle strumming that adds to the song's already formidable melody. Also,he slips "Roger" non chalantly into the roll call, which is hilarious.ÂÂ
Fun but empty, much like...you know where I'm headed.
